Mansfield, TX Maternity Photographer | Dalilah’s Maternity Session
This Mother’s Day week, I had a full circle moment. As some of you may know, I had my first baby in my early twenties. I was a young mom who was still trying to figure things out while simultaneously raising a little boy too. Eventually, I got remarried and became a mom for the second and third time in my thirties. I went through a major career change and became a professional photographer. Things changed, I grew up. To be honest, it’s almost as if I’m a totally different person now, than when I had my first. But, becoming a mom has been the most beautiful and rewarding experience of my life. To look into my children’s face when they smile or feel their arms around me when they need comfort is everything I need to get up each morning. My oldest son saved my life in ways he never realized and my little ones are the chaos we never knew we needed. We can’t imagine a life without them!
My last maternity client is also a young mama-to-be and I couldn’t help but see her and think of all the wonderful things that are ahead, for her and her baby. How she and him will grow right along with their baby boy and experience many ‘firsts’ together. Their bond will be one of a kind.
Dalilah first reached out to me a couple months ago to ask about booking a simple maternity session. She was looking for a photographer who offered gowns with the session fee as she had two styles she wanted to incorporate into her session. She wanted to wear gowns and something more casual, such as jeans and a button down shirt. I immediately arranged a customization call with her, where we were able to discuss the different gowns available in my client closet as well as background options and aesthetic for the photos.
Her and her partner arrived in studio and you could immediately tell that this was their first professional photoshoot and they were both a bit intimidated by it all. It is my priority to ensure safety and also make sure my client is comfortable during the session as this will be evident in the photos. I took a minute to sit with them and go over the process and they got so hyped up, that they were like ‘let’s go!’
We started with the casual outfit. Right away you could tell the bond between them. You could see that besides being expecting parents, they are best friends too. They giggled together, embraced each other with ease and felt comfortable around one another.
The time came for the gowns. Dalilah looked like a total goddess in them! I posed her and photographed her in her best light yet. She chose the prettiest blue fabric and also the ruffled dress for a more dramatic look. She was simply beautiful in both of them.
As I do with every one of my clients, I help them embrace their moment and spoil them as much as I can because motherhood is a one-of-a-kind experience that should be celebrated on more ways than just one. I hope she is able to look back on these photos and remember fondly the days were her and her baby were one together.
