Mansfield, TX Newborn Photographer | Stephanie’s Newborn Session
Photographing my clients as they anxiously await the arrival of their baby, is one of my favorite things. Through the lens, I can capture mom & dad’s bond and see the excitement in their eyes as they know they’re in the final stages of the pregnancy and their wait will soon be over, and everything will change.
Stephanie reached out to me about her maternity session back in March and truly, she was one of the most stunning women I have ever seen. Photographing her was amazing as her and her husband had the funnest vibe and chuckled throughout the session. I captured the coolest photos! What a lovely couple of soon-to-be parents!
Her due date was here and she announced on social media that her sweet baby Julian had arrived. I couldn’t be happier to know her and baby were doing great! I congratulated them and wished them all the best. Soon after, Stephanie reached out to me about scheduling her newborn session. She told me Julian was 5 days old and was wondering how soon he’d need to be for his session. I quickly checked my schedule, as babies older than 10 days can have a harder time getting through the session comfortably and I’m booked through June! Thankfully I had an open spot and she immediately said, ‘yes!’. We chose the color scheme for the session and I prepped them to know what to expect.
The session day was here, Julian is beautiful and perfect. Mom and dad told me they were a bit tired, it has been a rough few days trying to adjust to a whole new person in their home. Of course, I told them to kick back and relax as I got baby.
I got started by swaddling him. Babies feel most comfortable when we swaddle them resembling how they were in womb. I combed his hair, wrapped a matching hat around is head and began posing him on my favorite prop, the bucket. Gosh, what a beautiful baby!
We then moved on to a different color and prop. I changed the top layer of the swaddle and his hat and posed him on one of the most requested props, the baby bed. He was sleeping so peacefully!
After several swaddle poses, it came time to unwrap Julian and move on to what we call table poses. In here, we pose baby on a flat surface, cushioned of course and propped with pillows to help baby remain in pose and comfortable. Typically, this is when we need to feed baby again as they begin to wake while we unsaddle, but not Julian. He just slept on and on! I wondered if he was like this all the time or was just being too good for me, haha! Either way, for comfortability, I kept my space heater close by to keep baby warm as I closely watch the color on his cheeks to make sure he isn’t too hot. I posed him and got to photograph his hairline, facial features and back rolls. These little details are the first thing that changes as they grow and I wanted his parents to be able to look back on these photos and remember those days when they were too tired to notice.
We wrapped the session and I changed him back into his outfit. Mom and dad were ecstatic to see the photos and grateful I was able to fit them in so quickly. Trust me, so was I! I always want you to have memories to look back on, so I will do the heavy lifting for you, figure out my schedule and make sure you get the photos you will cherish forever!
